With its kinetic shimmering effect, the original sister product to the lava lamp, the glitter lamp is a beautiful home decoration item that was extremely popular in the vintage years. This page is dedicated to Lava-Simplex Internationale's GemLite Model 850 design. With its soft thin shape with curved edges, the GemLite Model 850, presented an ultra-modern glitter lamp design that is simplistic yet extremely elegant. Lava-Simplex Internationale was the iconic US manufacturer of the lava lamp and created a side range of glitter lamps, the first being the slow-moving shimmering Glitter Lite (identical in formulation to Crestworth's Glitter Lite, in fact the glitter used in these lamps was actually shipped over from the UK to Chicago USA). These slow moving glitter lamp designs were sold in the Enchantress (Elegant) and Windsor Consort lamp designs.

Subsequently Lava-Simplex produced the GemLite, a fast moving glitter lamp design, in two radically new different lamp styles such as the rectangular Model 750 Mystique and the beautiful oval-shaped Model 850 known as the Continental (not be confused with their early non-electric candle powered lava lamp design). GemLite would also be seen in other lamp designs in later periods of Lava's history.
