Below: The 2000s was a period of change for Mathmos with the introduction of new products, but classic products from the past continued to be produced such as the classic Astro Baby which returned to Mathmos in 1997 and is a great iconic British invention. 2009 saw the Astro Baby taken to a white finish but presented in the same iconic form as the original Astro Baby. This shows just how iconic the original designs of the 1960s and the 1970s are. However in the year 2000, Mathmos launched Fluidium, a joint collaboration between Ross Lovegrove and Mathmos, to introduce a new lava lamp design for the new time. Below one can see the Astro Baby lava lamps bubbling and the Fluidium (Yellow & Green).
