Lunar and Solar Eclipse lights from Mathmos were released in the 2000s and are beautiful spherical metal and glass LED lights, that created a truly new effect in the world of lighting. Solar and Lunar eclipse create stunning jewel like effects, as they reflect colour changing LED light into the reverse of a mirrored sphere. Solar Eclipse features warm colours and Lunar Eclipse features more cooler colours such as blues. Lunar Eclipse also emits light via a wired mesh diffuser creating stunning patterns within the lamp. Mathmos Space Projector | Oil Wheel & Graphic Pack Please see slide below.
The 1990s saw the introduction of the Mathmos Space Projector, an oil wheel projector. Simply place an oil wheel slide into the Space Projector and watch the mesmerising patterns appear on the surface of the projection.
In the 2000s, Mathmos added the option of graphic packs, described as: "Surreal Wallpaper", which presents graphic slides which tell a story as they spin. Below one can see the Mathmos Space Projector in various colours, oil wheel slides, instructions, a Space Projector sales popup card and projections. Mathmos' Space Projector takes the magic and the chaotic nature of their iconic invention of the lava lamp and transposes it onto a surface. |

In the 2000s, Mathmos developed a new kind of functional light, titled Airswitch. Airswitch by Mathmos uses sensory technology to allow it be controlled by simply waving your hand over the design to switch the lamp on and off and in some models one can also control the brightness by moving your hand up and down over the the lamp. In the later 2000s Mathmos entered the candle powered lamp market with products such as Float. Float features a unique design that automatically allows a candle to float in water and stay alight to create a beautiful unique effect. Thaw from Mathmos in a unique DIY Ice candle kit, that contains a freezable mould. Simply fill the mould with water and pop into the freezer. The result will be a tubular ice sculpture that is then placed on the Thaw itself. Simply place a candle in the centre of Thaw to create beautiful effects of fire and ice. Melt from Mathmos are pressed glass tea-light holders which give the illusion of wax melting. Revolution by Mathmos presents a spinning graphic candle light, that spins from the heat generated by two tea-lights to create a beautiful effect. Please see the images below. |

In 1963, Edward Craven Walker, the inventor of the Astro lava lamp, changed the world with the introduction of the world's very first lava lamp, known as the Astro lamp. The Astro lamp changed the world of lighting and introduced a new concept, to a world that had never seen lighting presented in a chaotic, liquid fashion. Since 1963, the Astro lamp is a proud, iconic and British invention, still manufactured with pride and care in the United Kingdom by Mathmos.
